Phantom Republic II
About 40 years ago, a free-lance writer of yesterday year, Walter Lippman, wrote an article which made it into our American Textbooks. The article was entitled "THE PHANTOM REPUBLIC". Without belaboring the exact theme of his article, I will summarize it for you to wit; IT POINTED OUT VERY EFFECTIVELY THAT WHILE OUR AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE AND HERITAGE IS MADE TO SOUND GOOD, IN REALITY IT COMES IN FAR SHORT OF WHAT IT PORTENDS TO BE. The article approaches literary genius in that it was written well enough that everyone could easily grasp its meaning and understand its thrust.
Yet, even today, the vast majority of humanity is still completely ignorant of how our democratic society around us is actually fleecing us with our consent and blessing. There are unlimited examples of that which I write, but I will pick one of the most widely known to illustrate the phenomenon.
Opra: I just watched on TV where she had built a school for the poor, in Africa. The world marvels at how much she does for charity. Everyone clamors about how generous she is to do such things. NOBODY....AND I WILL REPEAT FOR EMPHASIS..NOBODY, EVER QUESTIONS WHERE SHE GETS ALL THIS MONEY SHE IS SO GENEROUS WITH! The last time I saw an estimate of her earnings, the report was that her salary is $40 million per year. Nothing basically wrong with someone gaining 40 million...BUT WHERE DOES IT COME FROM? It don't grow on trees in her yard! It don't fall like mana from Heaven! IT HAS TO COME FROM SOMEWHERE. The short sighted crowd says; "No skin off my nose if her employer gives her that much". My friends, her employer don't have that much to give to her, so they have to mine that...AND MUCH MORE...from somewhere. Where?
Now here is the illusion which the masses can never seem to grasp. Her millions come from the poor...THAT'S BASICALLY WHO WATCHES HER PROGRAM! Try this little test...Table the subject with anyone who watches Opra and I can tell you before hand that they will tell you "I DON'T BUY ANY OF THAT STUFF THEY ADVERTISE ON HER SHOW! Every one who watches...feels the same way. WELL MY FRIEND...HER SPONSORS DO NOT AGREE WITH YOU!
No company/employer is in the practice of giving ANYONE....$40 million per year unless they are receiving profits of many times that much. This is where the PHANTOM REPUBLIC IMAGE is built. IF YOU WATCH OPRA FOLKS, YOU ARE INDEED BUYING THE PRODUCTS SHE ADVERTISES AND HER EMPLOYERS ABSOLUTELY KNOW THAT YOU ARE BUYING ENOUGH OF THEM TO MAKE IT PRUDENT FOR THEM TO PAY HER $40 MILLION AND STILL HAVE MILLIONS LEFT OVER FOR THEMSELVES. Everyone protects his/her image by saying "it's the other guy who is being taken in"...But that is what makes the illusion successful...IT'S ALWAYS THE OTHER GUY!
IT CAN'T BE OVER HOWEVER UNTIL THE "LAST SHOE FALLS". While the world clamors about how much Opra does for the poor...they...all of them...are completely blinded to the fact that she is, in fact, picking the pockets of the poor, soliciting money they need for family necessities,..then taking a $40 million cut for herself...more millions for her sponsors..then using some small portion to create the illusion that she is helping the poor.
I would be remiss to not repeat however...Opra is not the only one..there are illiterate, millionaire, professional sports players among others who's millions come from those who can least afford it. Who created these illiterate millionaires..YOU DID!
Will you ever wake up America? I doubt it because every time I am tempted to think we are getting smarter...I COME ACROSS SOMEONE WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT NOT HAVING ENOUGH MONEY TO GET AN EDUCATION, OR TO GET AHEAD IN LIFE..I AM TEMPTED TO BE SYMPATHETIC UNTIL I NOTICE THAT HE IS WEARING A PAIR OF $200 REBOCK'S!!!
